Effective Conservative Leadership

Liz Brown is an effective leader in the Indiana Senate, advancing conservative policies at the Statehouse on behalf of her neighbors in Senate District 15, which encompasses much of Allen County. Dozens of her bills have passed into law, making Indiana a more affordable and safer place to raise a family and run a business. As a mother of seven, she’s unwavering in her commitment to protecting the unborn and helping their mothers.

Meet Liz

Liz Brown entered public service after raising her 7 children in Fort Wayne, alongside her husband, Steve. As a Fort Wayne City Council member, she earned a reputation for a fighter for the taxpayer. In the Indiana Senate, she has applied that same determination. She fights tirelessly to make Indiana more affordable, safer and welcoming of human life at all stages.

Conservative Champion

Liz was a quick study at the Statehouse and learned swiftly how to get legislation passed on behalf of Northeast Indiana. Every year she successfully authors and sponsors legislation that is signed into law. On the Judiciary, Health and Provider Services, Appropriations, Corrections and Criminal Law and Ethics Committees, Liz listens to witnesses and asks the necessary questions to ensure the best policies possible are advancing.

In 2025, Liz’s Parental Rights Act passed into law. Designated as the top priority of the Indiana Family Institute, this law makes it clear that parents have the right to raise their children, not government. This year her biological truth legislation passed the Senate to define sex and gender in Indiana code. She has voted to prevent the harmful mutilation of children through gender-transforming surgeries, believes boys have no business joining girls’ sports teams or entering their locker rooms, and passed a law to require age verification for adult websites.

Liz has championed pro-life legislation every session – first under the confines of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and then helping to make Indiana the first state to pass sweeping abortion restrictions after the 2022 Dobbs decision. Indiana has now seen a 98% drop in abortions. Liz continues to introduce pro-life measures, including policies to provide women and babies with proven services to improve their health and maternal outcomes.

Making Indiana More Affordable

Liz works tirelessly for common sense economic policies to make Indiana an affordable place to live, work and raise a family. Liz voted to add the balanced budget amendment to the Indiana Constitution, reduce state income tax, eliminate two utility taxes, reform the business personal property tax and reduce property taxes.

Knowing the growing impact of artificial intelligence, Liz has defined herself as a leader in cybersecurity and AI policy. She is a Senate co-chair of Indiana’s AI Task Force and earned unanimous support of her consecutive bills on cybersecurity (2024 and 2025) to protect Hoosiers’ private data. She was named the Midwest Region Champion of Innovation in 2023 because of her work on these issues.

During the last four consecutive legislative sessions, Liz has passed bills dubbed “I-ACHE” – Increasing Access to Care for Hoosiers Everywhere – to improve health administration, in order to bring down costs, remove regulations and increase transparency for Hoosier patients.

Safe Communities

Liz does not want illegal aliens taking American jobs, nor should taxpayers foot the bill for illegal aliens. This year, she authored Indiana’s FAIRNESS Act to enforce immigration law. She worked with law enforcement and her colleagues for a year to get this policy done correctly. It overwhelmingly passed both the House and Senate and the Trump administration calls her law “the gold standard.” The FAIRNESS Act addresses illegal hiring practices and sanctuary cities and ensures law enforcement has the training they need on detainer warrants.

In 2023, the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police gave Liz their Legislator of the Year award. She’s earned past endorsements from the Indiana State Police Alliance and the Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police and is a member of the National Rifle Association.

Family Focused

Liz’s decades of serving her neighbors before public office were focused on creating a better community and better schools for her children. She was on the St. Jude School Board, the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend School Board, the National Catholic Education Association School Board and the Dwenger Saints Alive Committee. Liz was a regular substitute teacher at St. Jude Catholic School and an adjunct professor at University of Saint Francis, teaching business courses. Those education experiences led to Liz authoring common sense laws regarding education and schoolchildren. One law allows schools to request their school transportation tax dollars from a tax increment financing district, thus giving schools more money without raising taxes. She supports parents taking the lead on their students’ education as demonstrated with parental rights, funding the Choice Scholarship Program and her support of the Classical Learning Test, passed by the legislature in 2026.

Liz also served on the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne Board of Directors, Parkview Hospital Ethics Committee, the Notre Dame Club of Fort Wayne and Allen County Law Library Foundation Board.

Her legal background has proven useful to the legislative process. Liz attended University of Notre Dame, where she was a varsity fencer, and where she met Steve. She followed him to Iowa where he did his medical training and earned her law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law. After they finished school, they settled in Fort Wayne and Steve served as a cardiologist at Parkview. Liz is a registered Civil and Domestic Mediator with her own mediation business. She is a member of the Saint Thomas More Society of Fort Wayne, Allen County Bar Association and the Republican National Lawyers Association.

Liz and Steve have been married more than 40 years and they continue to worship at St. Jude Catholic Church.
